Hanukkah or Chanukah is celebrated in December. “Festival of Lights.” This year it will start Saturday, December 24 and it will end Sunday, January 1. Hanukkah is an eight day Jewish holiday filled with fried foods, menorah lighting, and prayers. Chanukah is a Hebrew word that means “dedication.” It’s named this because it celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, which took place in the 2nd century B.C. People play the dreidel game, make and eat foods, and enjoy presents!

Happy Hanukkah!
